She shares her experience as a step mom and how she has learned to navigate the seas of blended families. Brittany also spoke about the pain in our world, and that there is so much more than escaping your own life. Brittany brings passion, excitement, and acceptance to the Stepmom role and conversation, and she speaks from her heart!  It’s OK to rise above the noise, the chaos, and teach ourselves we are important and we get to fill our cup or we will have nothing to give the ones we love.

She believes that women are “more than” a title of mother, stepmom, or wife, and that every person on earth has a purpose they deserve to fulfill. episode 27: how to break free of the diet binge cycle with mom Lisa Moffat

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Spotify

I am thrilled to share this episode with you for so many reasons.  Lisa Moffat is a quiet, gentle, and determined Mama, who wanted to heal her relationship with food and her body. Decades of dieting and bingeing, checking out of life, in front of the tv, ruined her spirit and her sparkle. I had the honour of guiding, coaching, and watching her evolve into a woman and mother who allows herself to truly feel her emotions. She was a dream to work with, because she chose to show up week after week, month after month. Other women in the coaching group were in awe and celebrated her. She was open, vulnerable, and desiring a different path, for herself, and her children. Lisa shares how to break free of the cycle of dieting and overeating. YOU don’t wanna miss this one!

About Lisa Moffat:

Lisa is a woman with desire, vulnerability, and so much strength. She has been struggling with her weight, worth, and her body since she was 10 years old. She let go of her interests, hobbies, and parts of life she enjoyed because of physical ailments related to dieting, and depression. Sunday nights were the reset for her, the opportunity to start it all over again on MONDAY.  Years of this cycle continued until she got married and her children were born. Looking back, Lisa shares that her postpartum depression was a turning point in her life and her desire for something more. Lisa is no longer held captive to the 3 digit number on a scale, that used to guide her every day, and her worth. Lisa is now living a life of feeling all the feels, and realizes that her battle with food and her body, has nothing to do with food.

In this episode, Lisa shares:

  • Three ways to stop the diet binge cycle NOW
  • The popcorn experience that changed everything for her
  • The surprise and the wonder, that it has “nothing to do with food”!!!!!
  • Trusting our body and listening to what she is telling us takes PRACTICE.
  • How her confidence around food and her body, allowed her to show up and do things she never thought possible.
  • The power of a mom taking care of herself, impacting her family, and her marriage.
  • The darkness of depression, and knowing we are not alone!

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | Soundcloud

From the moment I got on the phone with Crystal, way back in Sept 2018, it was so easy. There were so many similarities between her and I. From raising boys, ‘doing it all’, struggling with food and our body to wanting more and desiring more, we had so many things in common. It’s like we already knew each other.  Even though we live in different countries, we had the same goal. We SO desperately wanted to help other women, but we also wanted to help ourselves. She knew, as I know, we are not alone and the silence can end here. This jam session is about our truth. The tough times, noisiness of our minds, and the gifts of motherhood. This is one you’ll definitely want to tune into.

About Crystal Halverson

Crystal Halverson is a small town mid-western girl who is living out her passion sharing her struggles living a life on autopilot turning to food, sugar, naps and numbing out in order to survive her crazy days of motherhood. She has learned that this is not a quick fix, but instead a transformational journey which is why she created her podcast called Operation Transformation. She loves sharing her knowledge on what she is learning in her Hungry for Happiness Certification course that has already changed and transformed her life. Her drive is to help other busy Momma’s realize that they have the ability to empower themselves to a lasting change by learning the proper tools to upgrade their mindset, gain back control over their emotions and let go of their daily struggle with food, cravings and negative body image issues.

In this episode, Crystal shares:

  • How she turned her ‘mess into to message’.
  • Feeling into embodiment and alignment – what does that mean and how does it feel?

episode 10: learning to use breath to LOVE, not just to LIVE

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | Soundcloud

During this Solo Jam, I share the impact of connecting with MY own breath as a mom, a woman, and an entrepreneur.  I explore how so many of us have taken the gift of life for granted. Breath is the first thing we enter into this world with and the last thing we experience before we leave.  If you are overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or constantly worried about ‘life’ and things to do, you don’t want to miss this one. On today’s episode, I get into the power of breath and the openness of an inhale and exhale from an integrative and a meditative perspective. You will also learn how breath can create opportunities to feel calm, while living in the chaos of life.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • How to use integrative breath to ground, love yourself, and live in the flowy ease of your day.
  • The intentionality of breathwork.
  • Why breathwork is so different than meditation.

When I first heard Laura Darcy speak….her truth, the connection she has to yoga, her vulnerability, my heart melted.  It was at the Hungry for Happiness retreat in Squamish in January 2019, where I met her, and my openness to yoga, a different kind of yoga, was born.. I was in awe of how just the sounds of words, her connection to herself, and the way she held her hand on heart when she spoke….made me feel lighter. I knew I wanted to share this wisdom with my listeners, and with the Mamas coming to the ‘reel’ retreat on Vancouver Island in April.

About Laura

episode 4: how to stop emotional eating

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | Soundcloud

This topic comes up so often during my coaching sessions with women who are struggling with food and body and dieting as they’re just trying to let go of all that’s been guiding them for years. Even some of the women that I’m coaching who are becoming coaches, are working to identify how to move through these same blocks. On today’s episode I get into the differences between physical and emotional hunger, how to eat for health, hunger, and pleasure, and trusting ourselves around food.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • The difference between an emotional hunger cue and a physical hunger cue.
  • How to learn to trust yourself around food.
  • A common theme many of the women I coach experience with emotional eating.
  • How to identify where your struggles with food come from and how to move forward.
  • Deciding how you want to feel before, during, and after a meal.
  • Teaching our children how to develop healthy relationships to food and their bodies.

episode 2: going with the flow

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | Soundcloud

Today’s episode is all about assessing how we want to live our life and changing our stories. From moving away from my home of twenty years to a new city, introducing my boys to new schools and new friends, reestablishing home life and connecting with my husband, I felt all of the emotions. The guilt of leaving my comfort zone and community, the excitement and possibility of restarting a dream life with my family, the uncertainty of being in an unfamiliar space, and the fear of failing. It was all there. I’ve had to learn to go with the flow and choose what story I want to exist within, even on the days where the choice is tough to make. The beautiful thing about life is dancing in the duality of both experiences and choosing which one we want to tap into. We get to choose.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • How my life changed when I chose to open up to the possibility of living the life I desire.
  • Asking ourselves, “What if this amazing thing happened?”
  • What to do when we feel stuck and how to move through stiffness.
  • Releasing the old stories that no longer define us and recreating our new story.
  • Following our hearts and moving forward in a space of uncertainty.

episode 1: it’s mama’s time to thrive

Subscribe & Share | iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | Soundcloud

In this premier solo jam, I invite you into very real aspects of my world. I talk about the collective pain and “loss of self” that mothers feel (I feel it too) and what’s possible once we prioritize ourselves. I talk about why I needed to pivot my entire business from “fitness” to “freedom”, why helping other moms is so important, and why I want to help women around the world. I dive in deep into the areas of restriction, dieting and exercise, because I experienced it for decades, and I talk about the choices I’m making to make to rise out of that darkness. I also explore the “soul exhaustion” that so many moms feel and why sleep alone isn’t the remedy. This introduction episode is my heart on my sleeve. I invite you to listen in, take off the mask of perfection, and hear a very ‘reel’ side of my story.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • Why I decided to shift my business from fitness to opening a space for moms to feel freedom.
  • Releasing the stories that have held me back for the last 30 years.
  • Asking ourselves the question, “How do I want to live my life?”
  • Noticing when we’re living life from a deep, soul exhaustion, and choosing to put ourselves first.
